The tmpfile function takes no parameters and it returns a file handle which is similar to the one returned by fopen , for the new file or FALSE on failure. Errors And Exception: The temporary file is automatically removed when it is closed with fclose , or when the script ends. The tmpfile function returns Boolean False but many times it happens that it returns a non-Boolean value which evaluates to False.

Re: Temporary Save Files Post by bobwen » Wed Feb 15, pm I have tried this solution designating a place to put temp files but as I hit "command - S" a lot while working an old habit from those earlier crash prone days I still end up with anywhere from 3 - 8 temp files on my desktop, requiring a restart to get rid of them after every composing session.
